THE IRVINE BUTTERY. 21 HILL STREET (TOWN CENTRE)
This sits right in Irvine's centre, at the corner of Hill Street,
a narrow cobbled byway that oozes history and charm. It's the sort of
street in which you find yourself pausing, lifting your head aloft, and
smelling the spirits of yesteryear. It's nice inside The Irvine Buttery
too, pleasantly laid out with orderly tables and chairs and oodles of
dark wood. Usually three soups are on each day, like 'Lentil', 'Potato'
or 'Tomato'. A very fine establishment.
SMALL TALK, HARBOUR STREET (HARBOUR AREA)
A small coffee house facing Irvine's harbour, with a number of
snug tables and a gift shop. There's usually two soups each day, like
'Creamy Courgette and Sweet Potato' (yum yum!) or 'Split Pea and Ham'.
Excellent range of soups.
