ABBOT'S KITCHEN CAFE, MAYGATE
The Abbot's Kitchen Cafe is located in the Abbot House Heritage Centre. It is a lovely cafe
occupying a number of small rooms on the ground floor of what is
Dunfermline's oldest house and museum, so there's atmosphere aplenty. Beneath
the ancient wooden beams and the bits and bobs left over from the many
generations who have come and gone, you can slurp some excellent
vegetable soup and cram as many home-baked delights into your mouth
before meeting with the house's resident ghost. There are also seats
outside in the scented garden. This is a first rate cafe and attraction.
Just superb.
CAFE BY THE PARK, CHALMERS STREET
The Cafe By The Park sits, rather logically, beside a park; Pittencrieff Park,
in fact, whose massive and most attractive iron gates are nearby. As
such, the cafe is in a quiet secluded section of Dunfermline, away from
the hustle and bustle and the frantic toils of life. Inside it feels nice, and with soups like 'Roasted
Red Pepper and Sweetcorn' you will be more than content after a visit
here.
