Oh help ma boab and jings crivvens, what on earth am I going to say
about Dundee that hasn't been said before. Well... em... it's got a
great pub, and Dundee certainly needs a great pub, given all the juting
and jamming and journalism things that have been going on. Because that
is what the city is renowned for: its jute manufacture, it's jam making,
and its journalism where drouthy hacks wrote about all the jute and the
jam then went to the pub for a swally and a piece of cow pie with Oor
Willie and the Broon family.
But there's so much more to Dundee than chist a wee guy wi' spiky hair
who spends rather far too much of his time perched on a bucket. You can
go and learn about jute - I mean, pause for a moment and ask yourself
this question: Do I really know what jute is? Then there's an old
sailing ship, a bronze statue of Desperate Dan and Minnie
the Minx, a stunning
railway bridge and so on.
Oh.. and there's also the pub, and a very
special pub at that.
So, make up those jeely jam pieces, repeat after
me,
'Oh michty me,' one hundred times, and let us be
off to
somewhere pretty good.
How to
GET THERE
As a major Scottish city, Dundee is easily reached by rail and
other means of transport from Edinburgh, Glasgow, and other
places.
